Good
news for anyone counting down the days to South by Southwest (that’s eight
months, to be approximately exact)—Willamette
Week‘s Musicfest NW lineup is up and boy does it look good. This year’s festival,
to be held at various venues around the Portland, OR metropolitan area
September 3-6, features a mix of homegrown favorites and nationally renowned
acts including TV on the Radio, Vampire Weekend, The Murder City Devils,
Mogwai, Del the Funky Homosapien, Xavier Rudd, The Cool Kids, The Helio
Sequence, Menomena, Death Vessel, The Builders and The Butchers, Starfucker,
Deerhunter and many more. Wristbands
good for the entire four-day event are a cool $50—cheaper than a tank of SUV
gas! Shows are first-come, first-served. Visit MusicFestNW.com for complete
details.
Following
the most successful MFNW to date—2007 organizers really pulled out all of the
stops with appearances by Wolf Parade, Spoon, Rilo Kiley, Aesop Rock, Viva
Voce—the 2008 festival arrives with great expectations for a bigger, better,
faster, stronger showcase of diverse talent. If you can’t afford a wristband
and/or misplaced your neon Ray-Bans, tune in to Seattle’s KEXP radio, broadcasting live from
the Doug Fir Lounge September 4-6, with live performances by featured artists.
