Fela’s Son Seun Kuti Takes Egypt 80 On the Road

Afrobeat DNA strain
reportedly as wicked as ever.

By Andy Tennille

Following in his famous father’s footsteps, Seun Kuti – the
26-year-old son of legendary Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti – is taking to the road
this summer with Egypt 80,
Fela’s group through much of the ‘80s and ‘90s, for a month-long tour of North
America before heading back to Africa and Europe.

The tour is in support of his debut album, Seun Kuti & Egypt 80, due out June 24 on
Disorient Records. Check out his MySpace here. And here’s a video of Seun
Kuti & Egypt 80 performing in Lyon,
France in July
2005.
