Excellent new EP recently released, the second of four.

Willodean hails from Los Angeles, and the tuneful trio serves up rootsy power pop and Americana within a decidedly indie-rock approach. Eric Holden, Randy Wooten, and Abbie Huxley have ambitious plans for this year, with no less than four EPs planned for release. Awesome Life Decisions was the first of the quartet, and it arrived in February. The second EP is now dropping, Fires, Cars & Autumn Stars, and the first video, by Rachel Win, from it is not to be missed. Check out “Firelight”:
According to Holden, who also produced the record, “’Firelight’, to me, has the simplicity of a campfire ditty and the scope of everything we want out of life. At least the important things, a full heart and a meaningful life. And the video really does that justice. The two interracial claymation characters staring up at the stars and imagining the scope of the universe. There’s something beautiful and simple about claymation that really comes across here. I’m realizing after the fact that it’s one of the most important songs on the record and really helped steer the sound of this record. All of the songs on this EP are different than the last EP and the two upcoming EPs in that way. This one is more simple, more straight to the heart, lyrically and in production.”
