Flame-tressed, wild ‘n’ rockin’ Kim Lenz knows her rockabilly; the LA twang queen has been on the scene since ’98, releasing three albums, and playing hundreds of dates around the world. Her latest album is the Carl Sonny Leyland-produced Follow Me (recently premiered via Black Book Magazine), and now we are psyched to unveil her new video for opening track “Pay Dearly.” Check it out:
“Like most of the songs I write, this one came to me in the night,” Lenz says of the tune. “I woke up with the first verse fully formed, and after waking up four more times that night, I had ‘Pay Dearly.’ It’s a song about what you will do, what you will give up, what you will ultimately pay for something taken away from you that you dearly want back.”
The video for the track was directed by famed celebrity photographer Joseph Cultice, who has shot stills of Lenz previously, but is helming a music video for her for the first time. “We worked together on her last two albums,” Cultice explains. I was very touched that she wanted me to do her new video. The song is strong and heartfelt – an instant classic.” The shoot was completed at Quixote Studios in Hollywood where Cultice has previously produced iconic images of everyone from Marilyn Manson to “Dexter” star Michael C. Hall.
