Magic 8-ball says “dunno.”

In his recent song “Humble” rapper Kendrick Lamar teased, in a verbal aside, that April 7 would bring a surprise or big news. A lot of fans thought it meant he would be dropping a new album on that date. Now we know that he would simply be announcing a new album. But the good news is that there won’t be a huge wait, as he announced today that pre-orders for the album were now available. As several people quickly pointed out, the album credits with the pre-order details includes a cryptic one: “P. Hewson, D. Evans, A. Clayton & L. Mullen.” Well, that’s not exactly cryptic; everyone knows that would be U2.
So now the mystery becomes: Is this just a songwriting credit required if Lamar samples the Irish band on the album, or will the fab four actually appear on it? Our office pool is betting on the former, but we won’t know for sure until next week.
