That’s Blind fuckin’ Idiot God to you, pal. Gently soothing track taken from their just-released LP.
By Blurt Staff
Perhaps no recently-issued album this year has gobsmacked the Blurt braintrust—or at least longtime contributor Michael Toland and his editor buddy—quite so much as Blind Idiot God’s Bill Laswell-produced Before Ever After, which dropped on colored vinyl double LP a week or so ago. As Dr. Toland enthused in his review of the album, “Though joined by a new rhythm section, guitarist Andy Hawkins stays the course of the past three decades of his singular career, keeping one foot in amp-melting doom and the other in airplane-hangar dub… Brandishing its weaponry with power and grace, Before Ever After both reclaims the legacy of Blind Idiot God and paves the way for its next epoch.”
Brandish, indeed. We’re pretty jazzed to be able to do some brandishing of our own now, via this exclusive track premiere for album track “High and Mighty.” Check it out:
Blind Idiot God continues to discover commonalities within diverse formats, pioneering new possibilities while searching within the subterranean passages that exist between all great music. As long time producer Laswell explains, “Andy Hawkins is a nut, a perfectionist for his amplification and the guitar, and we recorded [this record] right. Every detail is there. It’s probably the best thing they’ve done.”
March 30th is the official release date for the CD version of the album; the track listing is slightly altered, but all the same material as on the 2LP version will appear.
