We know where the tickets are hidden, kids…

The new Superchunk album, I Hate Music, is out this week on Merge Records, and news just “leaked” about a surprise show the band is doing tomorrow night, Aug. 20, at The Pinhook in Durham. The surprise event is called “I Hate Happy Hour” and takes place from 6-8 PM at the popular Bull City club.
BLURT’s sister business Schoolkids Records (2114 Hillsborough Street, in Raleigh) has a number of tickets for the Superchunk show – they are free, you just have to come by tomorrow in person (we open at 10 a.m., and the tickets are going to go fast, so get here early!) and ask for them.
And if you should be so inclined, we also have copies of I Hate Music on either CD or LP available while you’re at the store…. Meanwhile, the band just unveiled the new video for “Me & You & Jackie Mittoo.” Including photos submitted by music lovers around the country, the “Jackie” video will require multiple viewings to uncover all of the fun details. It was directed by Phil Morrison (of Junebug fame).
Mac of Superchunk: shared the inspiration behind the song and the video: “‘Me & You & Jackie Mittoo’ is a song about bonding over records, and the role music can play in your life and relationships. We asked friends, family, and some of our favorite record stores to collect photographs of people holding an album that is meaningful to them in some way—not necessarily “favorite,” though we’re sure plenty of them are. Phil took that concept and shaped it into an amazing piece of vinyl worship and music love, featuring the collected photos as well as a beautiful diorama by the artist Ann Wood.”
