Jim Jones

Truth-in-titling, yo.

 By Uncle Blurt

Longtime BLURT faves the Jim Jones Revue just released third album The Savage Heart in the US and Canada through Punk Rock Blues Records. Check out the trailer:

And maybe even this clip as well:

The Savage Heart was produced by Jim Sclavunos (of Grinderman / Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds), mixed by Jim Abiss (Arctic Monkeys, DJ Shadow, The Heavy), with spiritual guidance Nick Lowe. (Eh?)

“While the group look back into the roots of rock n’ roll, we’ve never gone backwards in what we do,” says Jim Jones. “It’s always about pushing things forward for us.” Contributing is Henri Herbert,  who joined the band in 2011, has diversified the band’s keyboard vocabulary, drawing not just on the likes of Jerry Lee Lewis and Little Richard but Otis Spann, Pete Johnson and Albert Ammons as well. “He’s the Professor of Piano,” affirms Rupert Orton (guitar). “His wealth of knowledge is astounding. He’s really re-shaped our approach.”

Stay tuned for live shows in the US and Canada later this year. Meanwhile, check out previous BLURT coverage at the links below:
