With May 19-22 already indelibly etched onto electronica fans’ digital calendars, the big Moog Music-hosted happening – slated for 2016 in Durham, to which it had moved following several years in Asheville – has now announced the slate of performers, as the poster pictured above lovingly details. Pretty self-explanatory, eh? Worth additional note: there will be “intimate church performances” by Julianna Barwick, Moses Sumney, Daniel Bachman, Julia Holter, and Gwenno.
As usual there will be scores of workshops, panel discussions and other complementary goings-on (the right hand side of the poster lists the participants).

Daytime programming will feature keynote presentations by transhumanist activist and pharma tycoon Dr. Martine Rothblatt (the highest-paid female executive in the U.S., and founder of satellite radio) as well as computer scientist, virtual reality pioneer, musician and author Jaron Lanier.
Moogfest will occur in Durham, NC for the first time, previously taking place in Asheville, NC and New York City. Moogfest is a tribute to Dr. Robert Moog, founder of Moog Music and inventer of the Moog synthesizer. In 2014, Moogfest 2014 posted a loss of $1.5 million although it drew 7,000 badge holders (up from an estimated 5,000 at the previous iteration of Moogfest in 2012) and 25,000 people in attendance of the event’s free programming.
