With opening act Savage Republic also in tow!
By Uncle Blurt
It will come as little surprise that we here at the BLURT luxury suite are huge Dream Syndicate fans—you can go HERE to read our interview with band co-founder Steve Wynn in which he talks about the band and the classic Medicine Show album—so when word arrived that the DS would be doing two back to back nights in Atlanta this month, the anticipation juices started to flow. On Sept. 26 and 27 at The Earl venue, the group will be doing both The Days of Wine and Roses and Medicine Show, and opening each evening will be another legendary L.A. band, Savage Republic (reviewed HERE). A good time is guaranteed for all, needless to say.
“I’ll most certainly be there,” says Wynn, ever the master of understatement. “2 nights in Atlanta, our first shows there in almost 30 years. We’re doing “The Days of Wine and Roses” LP the first night and then “Medicine Show” the second night, start to finish followed by various tracks and rarities from the other albums. Not a song repeated from night to night except, well except “John Coltrane Stereo Blues” which we play every night but is never quite the same. Come on down south and join us.”
Well, all right then! The show’s organizers are kindly providing a ticket discount for BLURT readers as well: go to the ticket links below for either or both nights, and enter the password SMRXNS100, and instead of $22 per ticket the cost will just be $15 per. See ya at the show!
