The crew here at the BLURT banquet room received a special dinner party invitation for tonight – it’s from none other than DEVO’s Gerald Casale, who a couple of years ago launched his wine biz The 50 by 50. As you will probably surmise from the invite and menu for tonight’s event in the L.A. area, the man is clearly a gentleman of potential wealth and definite taste. Indeed, as his bandmate Mark Mothersbaugh told Variety in 2014, “I depend on the good taste of others. Devo ate better than we should have on the road. While the Ramones were eating pizza, we’d travel to a destination 40 minutes outside of Milan and have dinner in the basement of a castle.”

The 50 BY 50 2014 Pinot Noir Release Party Dinner!!

Gerald Casale, Devo founder and proprietor of the 50 by 50 Wines here. I would like to invite you to be a guest for a very exclusive evening of food and wine pairing hosted by myself and the illustrious Quinton Jay of Bacchus Wine Shop. There are only 21 spaces at the table!

In addition to pouring my 50 by 50 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir 2014 for the first time and my 50 by 50 Sonoma Coast Rose of Pinot Noir 2015 released last month I will supplement the evening’s libations with at least two other highly acclaimed fine wines that I love but did not make.

Of course the multi-course dinner is “curated” by internationally celebrated chef, Ken Tsang, to compliment and amplify each of the wines we will consume. I guarantee appetite satisfaction and Bacchanalian reverie mixed with no-holds-barred conversation.

You will depart satiated. But, I can’t be responsible for your journey home so consider Uber, Lyft or a sober friend as an option to your next destination.
