The MARSHMALLOW OVERCOAT surfaced in the ‘80s, spearheading the underground garage music revival of the 1980s all the way through the new millennium to now. They are now readying a a 30-song “best of” audio collection, designed to be produced as a 2-LP set, on colored vinyl, in a full-color fold-out gatefold cover! (1/3 of the songs are new or will make their VINYL DEBUT!) Original producer Timothy Gassen (also the band’s vocalist) has meticulously remastered the original tapes. (Tim was affectionately named “The Guru of Garage” by legendary Bomp! Records’ honcho Greg Shaw, and he is known by many garage fans as the author of the garage-psych “Knights of Fuzz” books, newspaper articles and DVD releases. Tim is busy now on an updated version of the paper book, due out soon!)
Many talented musicians have made these sounds possible, including guitarists Chad White, Matt Rendon and Alan (Oz) Ostreicher, bassists Dan Magee and Greg Rupp, keyboardists Debra Dickey and Bill Kurzenberger, drummers Scot Gassen and Ernie Mendoza — and many others, such as Tucson guitar legend Al Perry. Fan favorites will include 13 Ghosts, Psilocybic Mind, (We’re The) The Knights of Fuzz, The Mummy, Suddenly Sunday, Fly Away, Santa Fuzz, Beverly Pepper, The Light Show and many, many more. All the band’s albums will be represented: The Inner Groove, Try On…, Beverly Pepper, Three Chords & A Cloud of Dust!, A Touch Of Evil, Fuzz, Screams & Tambourines, and The Light Show — plus 45s, compilation appearances and outtakes.
New songs will include the blistering fuzz monster Your Love and the epic “mallowtron” psych-fest The Beyond, plus much more!
This 2-LP set will go into production immediately upon the successful Kickstarter funding. See below for the video pitch….
