Okay punters, mark your calendar and book your hotel rooms
for Oct. 28-30 in Asheville,
NC: that’s when the next
installment of Moogfest takes place. You may have heard of it: we provided extensive
coverage
of last year’s event that celebrated the legacy of the late Dr. Robert
Moog and all things synthesizer-esque.

Asheville,
of course, is where the Moog synth company is based, along with the Moog
Foundation. (The company, in fact, has just relocated to a huge new complex in
downtown Asheville.)

2010 was a big deal, for sure, featuring memorable shows by
Massive Attack, Big Boi, Jonsi and a slew of others. Just the people watching
factor alone was worth making the trip, considering Moogfest fell on Halloween
weekend.

So this year they have none other than the Flaming Lips
headlining, and synth pioneers Tangerine Dream and Suicide will also be doing
special sets. (Suicide will be recreating their seminal self-titled debut
album.) Also on the bill, with more no doubt slated to be added soon enough:

Adrian Belew, Passion Pit, Crystal Castles, M83, Battles, Toro Y Moi, Matthew Dear, Twin Shadow, Chromeo, Ford & Lopatin, Oneohtrix Point Never, Tim Hecker,
Holy Fuck, Gold Panda, Austra, Little Dragon, Mayer
Hawthorne and the County, and Anika.
