New Cobain/Nirvana Book Due in Jan.

Does the world really
need another book about grunge et al? Apparently so…

By Fred Mills

Kurt Cobain, Krist Novoselic, Dave Grohl and Nirvana get the
once-over again a forthcoming book from author John Luerssen (Rivers’ Edge: The Weezer Story; Dancing
Days: The Led Zeppelin Reader
) and the Rock Reader Books publisher.
Luerssen compiled and edited The Nirvana
Reader: 1988-1992
from mostly extant sources including out of print
articles and interviews in order to deliver what Luerssen hopes will be a truer
and more concise history of the band as scene through the lens of the media in
real time.

“There have been way too many Nirvana books,” Luerssen told
online Nirvana fan portal NirvanaClub.com (www.nirvanaclub.com).  “So what gives me the right to put The Nirvana Reader together? Well, for
one thing, I’m tired of the conjecture. I’m sick of the conspiracy theories,
and I really just wanted to go back to the start and read about the band as
they evolved during the first four years.”

The 184-page book, priced at $19.95 (or $6.95 as a digital
download) arrives on Jan.5. Go to self-publishing website Lulu.com for more
details.
